Gracious Living and Entertaining
The contrast of rustic and refined in this historic home would make designer Ralph Lauren proud. During the three remodels by the current owner, materials were chosen with exquisite taste to highlight the home's history and ensure gracious and comfortable, living and entertaining. Your guests and clients will fall in love the moment they enter.
The 30' x 18' Living Room is a where memories are made over roaring fires on a cold winter evening, or games and conversation with friends and family. Select furniture and antiques are available for sale upon request.
The open concept living and dining rooms are perfect for entertaining. Easy access to the kitchen and breakfast rooms add excellent traffic flow for guests. The original schoolhouse beams and tall ceilings add visual drama to the space.
The 16' x 14' Dining Room is open to the Living Room and just steps away from the Gourmet Kitchen. Large round and rectangular tables will fit to accommodate friends and family. The current owners have delivered seated dinners for up to 12 guests.
Holidays are special in The Schoolhouse. Family and friends will love stepping into history and making memories.
The 16' x 12' kitchen's cherry cabinets harmonize beautifully with the wood beams and original stone wall, which is almost 2' thick! The kitchen is very functional; in fact the Plum Cookery catering company was managed from this space for over 7 years! Two ovens, a Sub Zero refrigerator, pantry, Corian counter tops, and a local produce stand next door for true "farm to table" ingredients make this a dream kitchen for any chef.

Generous counter and prep space can be found on the center island. The large shuttered pantry offers space for stand-up mixers and food storage. Inside several of the kitchen cabinets, fold-out shelving offers bonus storage space for spices and canned goods. This kitchen was a hive of activity when Plum Cookery was delighting its catering clients. Plant a kitchen herb garden just outside the kitchen window for easy harvesting; imagine the fantastic meals you can create!
The Breakfast Room is where you'll spend all your extra time. Two walls of windows bring the outside in and make this the perfect spot for casual meals, family games, laptop sessions, or a craft project. The terracotta floor cleans up easily and has french tile inserts that make it a work of art. Isn't it time for coffee and a copy of the New York Times?
The downstairs Powder Room is an adventure. Guests or clients will marvel at the original stone wall and the contrasting modern vessel sink and pump water lever. Tongue and groove wainscoting and cherry flooring add charm and warmth. This bathroom is steps away from the home office and perfect for clients and guests to use.
The transition between the original stone building (living and dining rooms), and the most recent addition (office), features a stunning terracotta and cherry wood lattice floor that provides easy access to the backyard.
